Actually, the thing under the flash is a heart rate sensor. It says so in the user manual and in the camera settings under shooting methods.

My S8 went stong all these years. Just ordered a s21 Ultra to replace it. Feel kinda bad since the s8 still functions remarkably well for its age and physically held up very well. (kept it in a case)

This was a very nice video but it'd be cool if you did some basic drop testing as well. The chances of my phone screen being held to flame for 30 seconds is minimal. dropping from waist height however, well it's just a matter of time

When I got it, I was extremely afraid, that It could break very easily and didn't want to go out without a case on it. But after a couple of days without any protection (except on the display), I was so positively surprised how resistent the phone is! Especially against sharp object inside my bag (keys, pens, etc.)

As of today, my s8 has survived 7 major falls 1.5m high, and has gone 5m deep underwater and was repaired just under 70$ Truly a great phone

The fingerprint scanner is in a pretty good spot I'm my opinion, I've been using it for half a year now and the scanner makes the phone easier for one handed use.

Bixby button is kinda annoying sometimes but bixby itself is the best voice assistant to my taste And it is my favourite one

Been using this phone for more than 3 years. It deeply scratched the first day I bought it, just by putting it on the table face down. Got so pissed that on the same day I bought a screen protector. Never cracked the screen, even after dropping it on hard concrete. But it does scratch so damn easy. The battery is way too degraded tho. What a pity.

With micro vibration, internal componment unsolder over the time, you should do drop test or a machine that give a LOT of small hits for like 3 days to test its inner durability too

I'm gonna miss my S8 :( I will replace it soon as it finally died. It survived 2 drops on the asphalt from the motorcycle while riding at quite some speed, and other regular drops, all without a protection case. After the 2nd big drop, the inside screen was exposed for more than a year and it worked perfectly, only recently it gave up. The battery was failing me sometimes at 15% falling all the way to 0%. To give you an idea about the state that the phone is, the led notification light is exposed, same as some of the gaps around the edges of the screen. I was so happy that it still worked like this for more than a year that I feel sad to leave it go now. :( Best smartphone I ever had, perfect size, design, speed and everything. Now I am deciding between a Xperia 5 ii, S20, or the 1+ Nord as is cheap and could serve me for until something that I like will come out, as both the S20 and the Xperia 5 ii are not quite what I am willing to pay for around $1000. S8 foreverrrrrrrr!!!

GREAT VIDEOS! Would never buy a phone without watching Jerry's test and teardown video on it. Very impressed with the Galaxy S8 and if not for being robbed on June 9 I would buy one before finishing this sentence and at the very least have a great backup phone. But now I have to deal with the thieves... as well as Banggood that needs a serious wakeup call in customer service.

Been running the S8 since it came out, still have it. It's beaten, cracked, scratched, damaged to hell, water in it, green and pink lines going through the screen, and chunks of the screen itself are missing. Yet, she remains fully functional albeit a little slower and doesn't last long on battery. I finally decided to replace it with an S10+. She'll finally be retired by the end of the week. She served me well. Best phone I've used so far.
