iPhone Xs MAX Durability Test - How weak is the big iPhone?
Apple has released the new iPhone Xs flagships. Its time to durability test the larger of the new iPhones, the Apple iPhone Xs Max. The biggest screen ever made into a iPhone. Lets see how durable it is! Maybe that extra surface area has made the iPhone Xs Max weaker than the previous version. The only way to find out is with a JerryRigEverything Durability Test.
We'll start with Apples little dongle problem, and why they stopped including the headphone jack adapter in the box this year. The answer might surprise you. We'll continue along with the scratch test, Scratching the screen of Apples new iPhone XS Max; the biggest screen on an iPhone ever. Then we'll check the different surfaces with my scientifically calibrated.... razor blade. You know how it is.

I just wish he'd find something new to complain about. He's gonna be kinda screwed when the next iPhone comes out because with the latest Samsung phones the iPhone is currently more repairable than the S10. It may have a lot of different screws but it's more repairable than the S10 at least. The iPhone still has a removable charging port when you open it up. It may be a pain in the ass to replace, but it can be replaced. Can't say the same for the S10. Oh, and Apple actually did fill in all of the empty space in the phone so there actually was no room for the headphone jack this time around, so it's not like Apple is *just* being greedy. Apple using all of the screws they use is kind of shitty, but the phone is still repairable, even though it's hard. And hey, getting rid of touch ID means that you don't have to deal with mismatched home buttons not working on an iPhone anymore. Samsung has no excuse for the bullshit they're pulling. The most commonly replaced internal part of the phone (the charging port) is now soldered to the motherboard. Sure the glass replacement is cheaper, but that's a cosmetic thing, the phone still functions with cracked glass. Things like a charging port *NEED* to be able to be replaced because after a few years that port will break. It is to be expected. Apple does some shitty stuff, but if he doesn't go after Samsung for the same, and worse, things now, he's a hypocrite
Gyonis
4 жыл бұрын
@Electricnick Compared to what Apple does the charging port is nothing.
Electricnick
4 жыл бұрын
@Gyonis no, Apple tries to keep you out by using a bunch of different screws, but everything still is replaceable if you know what you're doing. It's not the most repairable device by any stretch of the imagination, but it is still more repairable than the S10. The charging port is the most commonly replaced internal part of a phone. Soldering it to the main board is predatory and shitty for any company to do.

Samsung charges $800 for a phone and it only lasts two years (galaxy s8) before it stops receiving updates (android 10) and you need to buy a new phone to get more than just security updates. Really sad and pales in comparison to an average iPhone’s running time of like 5 years? iPhone 5s got iOS 7-12, from 2013 to 2019. Cut the crap.

The only reason I had to upgrade my iPhone this year was because the old battery on my iPhone SE would no longer charge. Now, I could have waited until the iPhone 11 got officially announced, but I really needed a phone, so I got the Xs Max. Truthfully, I love this phone. I like the screen size, making it easier to type on the keyboard with my thumbs. The sound is nice and loud, just how I like it. So, with that being said, I’ll be keeping this phone around for a while.

I think I have a correction: If stainless steel does 'conduct less heat than aluminium ' then it would feel warmer to the touch, not cooler. Highly conductive materials feel colder as they are better at carrying heat energy away from your skin. This means a stainless steel surround should be better at dissipating heat, from a processor... or whatever. No?

I didn’t get an adapter that converts the charging Jack to headphone jack. I am, however, very pleased with my Xs Max, the only slight bad thing is that for heavy users like me you may require topping the battery up during the late stage of the day. Overall, this is a sleek, very quick phone.

Even though it’s not the most profitable idea, they should’ve used two different options. I can’t stand the glass back. I liked the IPhone 7’s back minus the Jet Black of course. I don’t know if I’m the only one that thinks this, but I don’t use wireless charging and I don’t want a case on my phone. I have started using skins making it not as big of a problem, but this will be the last IPhone I buy with a glass back, and i will be going back to the IPhone 7 soon. Hopefully they will release an SE 2 that doesn’t have a glass back. I really hope this isn’t the way that all phones will be in the future.

I have an 8 plus. The reason I have an iPhone is because the phone stays supported by updates for 5+ years and the style and design is sleek. Yeah I know there’s some androids that stay updated (the pixel for example) but I don’t like the design of the pixel. I have considered a one plus though. I like the design of the essential phone (it’s iPhone-Esque and classy) but the specs just aren’t up to par

Solid points, I've been using iPhones since the 3gs and the xs maxis the worst phone I've ever had. It disconnects me from wifi at random, and even when I have full LTE signal the phone won't load anything. The screens are also very weak, I have a galaxy s4 and the screen has absolutely no scratches visible while this phone started showing scratches after 3 days of use. I'm not an iPhone or Android fanboy, I use both systems and i agree both have pros and cons but most high end android phones are way better than this at a fraction of the price

@John De Leon yes, but it is nice to get an extra 200 GB of storage right in your phone by simply putting in a $35 (100 mbps read write) Samsung micro SD card and always have access to your data (and apps). You can't save your apps in the cloud and use them at the same time. Anyway, all this to say, expandable storage is nice and Apple should offer it rather than encourage users to spend up for a model with more built in storage.

I have question since 256 or 512 GB is already big.. Why need more? No backups? - This is more important. If you lose your phone all the files that in your "expandable storage slot" will be gone forever. Clouds are better at least you have a backup for your files. I wonder how many apps in your phone

I want this so much. It’s amazing to me. Even if it isn’t the most durable. It’s still beautiful

My XS Max makes fairly quiet pop noises when you squeeze or try to bend it. Is this normal? Maybe apple made them with a bit of give to help with the durability?
