I like having a black screen, because it makes me feel like the screen is bigger. Even though when you turn it on, you can tell it’s not, But whatever.

The security feature makes sense to me because someone could if they wanted, hack their own fingerprint into the software with their own scanner

I'm pretty sure the reason for the white screen is that they have a lot of extra white home buttons,motherboards, and screens left over from the silver gold and rose gold iPhones.Due to the high demand of the matte black and jet black iPhones they couldn't spare any screens/motherboards and didn't want to spend more money producing new boards and screens.

There is a thing i saw in amazon, called home button touch id protector It comes in many colours including black And according to other videos, the touch id also works.

The white button actually looks kinda cool

They should have customized the startup colors to be red also.

The inside looks super cool with that red color. Just imagine having a transparent glass back cover (or like the s7 where we could easily remove the color and make it transparent).

And if you still want the home button black but you want it to function as normal , just put a glossy black sticker on it

For the home button you would have to swap the motherboard from the matte black iphone 7 to the red edition so the home button would work but be cautious its difficult

I believe they should release both colors. While I'm a fan of black-red I think that there are some people out there that prefer the other combination :-)

If you want the black home button, why not remove the tiny circuits on the original home button and place it on the black home button? Some glue or adhesive might be needed but I'm sure that can theoretically work.

there are some display protectors who turn your front black

Personally, I like the black front better, so I would want the whole front either black or a similar red on the front (including a red home button similar to what the black home button looks like)

I actually like the black screen because it just blends in with the red and makes it stick out a bit more. People will glance more at it and see the different colors that contrast with each other

if you have a white home button wouldn’t it be easier using a black screen protector? it’s kinda the same thing plus it’s protected at the same time

Not a big deal but something worth mentioning, Apple color coordinates the start up (apple boot) screen with the color of the device itself. For example, the start screen had a white background to match the white on the front of the device. Black iPhones will portray black backgrounds. With that being said, the phone looked brilliant in black! Well done.

Hey Jerry you can replace the little white glass on the fingerprint sensor with the black one I've seen a couple of repair shops do it. Using the heat gun.

to be perfect, you should change the logic board to keep the home button black, and also change the charge connector to turn all red and black

Be careful doing this on some IOS versions, as replacing a key part can cause an error 53 and brick the phone.

Well, if you don't transfer the home button from the old display to the new one, you WILL lose Touch ID functionality.

Ive said this before. You definitely need to replace the adhesive. It will make it water resistant

I knew that the app i use looked familiar I have an app called Touch Assistant because this old phone starts to click the recent button like crazy so i have to disable it and use that app, and it looks like the on-screen home button that you have and you can customize what it does its very useful 👌

at first i thought black would look cooler but the more i look at the white front w/ the red the more i love it. so much brighter and makes the red pretty darker so all the way white.

If you remove your fingerprint from the Touch ID function by turning the function completely off in the settings menu, you bypass the issue of the Touch ID not working when you replace the screen to black.

I love his videos I'm a home based repair tech and his videos have helped me alot. About the homebuttons I've in past found funky colors sale. I've used blue ones on the 4s models and had white screen with black back!

Just use a sharpie.

You don't need to use a heat gun to melt the adhesive. They have specific tools to open the display.

Just put a kind of tempered glass which comes with frame, of course which is black. (For black phone). A lot easier and most people will need a protection on screen anyway.

I don’t think it was a wise move because the trade value goes to $ZERO! But the black bezel looks much better than the white with the red by far!

If you want the black home button just replace the logic board too

You should’ve swapped the mother board because when you turn it on the background will be white with a black apple logo and swapping the motherboard would’ve made the start up screen black with the white apple logo. Also the home button is compatible with the motherboard so the black home button could’ve been fitted with the same phone.

We have customers often who ask us to put different color screens on their devices. A white screen with a black homebutton from their original screen always reminds me of a stormtrooper.

I kinda like the 2 tone panda home button. But I do agree that I wish the product red phones got a black face.

I love the red back. I couldn't believe their choice of white front, especially with the black logo on the back. I would've thought anyone with a brain would've made this with a black screen. It looks so awesome and sleek like that.

I prefer the white screen. White and red looks so much cleaner than the black. I was sad that the red iPhone 8 has black bezels.

So how about the waterproofing of the phone or the water resistance? Cause in the process of removing the screen you have to tamper with the rubber sticky sealing around the screen, so wouldn't that be an issue?

You’d get exactly the same look with a black glass screen protector. You should protect your screen anyway because they brake ridiculously easy. Had you managed to keep the black home button then you might have accomplished something.

There's a black home button sticker thing selling on amazon which doesn't affect with the finger print scanner so that you could use the white home button without taking apart all the components

I use a privacy screen protector instead. My iPhone has a white faceplate and I decided that it was time for a change. I bought the screen protector and it was easier than doing this. Great work, though!

Why do you have to turn off the phone when removing the screen? It's not like it's going to wipe your data, or catch on fire (although that would be pretty cool, fire is red-ish so it would blend in.)
