It FINALLY Happened!! - Building the Largest LEGO Technic Crane!

LEGO is here for real! With the largest LEGO Technic set they have to offer: amzn.to/41NhrYk LEGO Technic is designed for kids 11 and up, Cambry and i had a blast assembling this massive contraption. It took us almost a week. And was worth every second. Huge thanks to LEGO for sponsoring this video! Check out all their other LEGO Technic Sets HERE: ebay.us/BofiQZ
Ive been playing with LEGO Bricks for as long as I can remember, and this MASSIVE LEGO Technic Crane was a blast from the past and a super fun trip down memory lane. The classic LEGO I remembered from my childhood with a new slightly more advanced and intricate twist. Which LEGO Technic set do you want to try out?

I showed this video to my wife a few weeks before Christmas. She asked me if I was going to order one and build it. I told I'd love to have one but there'd be no way I would ever spend that kind of money on a toy, especially since I'm 52 years old. Christmas was two days ago and guess what? My wife surprised me with this same crane as one of my Christmas presents. I was so happy to the point to wheee I thought I was going to fall out of my wheelchair from so much joy and happiness. I've had the crane for a little over 50 hours and I probably have over 24 hours already invested in the building process of the crane. I'm very behind on sleep but I just want to finish my crane. I just finished the first book and it's so awesome so far. I'm pretty sure I would have gotten further in the building process if I weren't such an OCD person in making sure every single part is just perfect. By that I mean even the application of each and every one of the decals are centered and in place just perfectly. But I know in the end my crane will be built with precision accuracy which is something I know I will enjoy for a long time. I love my wife so much for her never ending quest to make me happy. She does that very well........

Given it looks like the set has a fully functioning engine, I wonder if you could retrofit some kind of air pressure system onto this system. If so, how much psi would it take to move the assembled components.

Actually the purpose of a differencial is to allow for different rotation speeds of the wheels when turning, the downside is that if one wheel gets off the ground or on to a slippery surface, the other wheel has little to no power delivered to it!

Dam. 17 hours over 3 days and two people to build?! A lot of fun tho. Agree with you, keeps the mind, hands (and in some cases feet trying to find bits on the floor that dropped) active. Lego may be a little on the more expensive side, at least it lasts for years (not like some things) and ya can make many different things out of one box or let the imagination go wild with many different sets. Thanks for the video.

@Eldian Nationalist When it comes to reality you have few limits for engineering, but when it comes to lego technic you have just those pieces, you can maybe invent a few more, but you have to work with those, you don't have a blank canvas to work with, that is whats challenging about it

    • Eldian Nationalist

      Eldian Nationalist

      4 жыл бұрын

@Saamdotexe You have a lot of limits in reality for the high end machines. You have to optimise the strain while reducing the mass, you have to furnish a high trust and resist to the heat, etc

    • Saamdotexe

      Saamdotexe

Yes, but not anymore, maybe you have to update some technologies on the machines, optimize something, but it's never a work you start from nothing, because all the machines already exist

I have the 4x4 truck.. It is remote cotroled and as a preaty solid suspension.. I have recently rebuilt it for like a 3rd time and added some features I personally prefered and I thought would make it better, and they did.. I moved the gearing outside of the vehicle so I can easily change the gears based on the type of movement I want. Now the only limit os the power of motors, but even now, it can climb some really sweet altitudes... It nearly passes obsticles that are higher than the diameter of the wheel..

Nice set - plenty of features, however I wish Lego would return somewhat to their earlier philosophy and do something about their boxes. As being over 45 I recall they used to have great reinforced boxes in the past with multiple compartments - basically the equivalent to a storage box that came with the set. But now its just bags - it they even gave resealable bags that would be useful - but the boxes in the past were the biz!!! Their earlier philosophy involved producing several Technic Ideas books, that showed you how to combine smaller technic sets into bigger models.

A little proud of our local factory: Lego. I remember the building blocks in the 60és, have them still. We have been in Legoland every summer as young (very primitive) but for sure with the kids. Not long ago i purchased a big set - we have them in supermarkets, online or in a lot of hobby shops. Lego also have two shops in Copenhagen. Thats a bit disappointing, some built and them spare brick market and sales of boxes. Could be nice, but very sterile and limited

I have one and I like it very much. I added lights kit and I removed the V8 engine to install 2 motors , one for the steering and I created a piece with 2 Lego bars to be able to motorise translation. With a 8 teeth pinion on L-motor, I was able to put a 12 teeth gear to reach the red 16 teeth gear centered in the truck. The results are amazing. I controlled direction and translation with a remote control.

I have crain #42009 not as many peices but still pretty impressive when put together. My father out did me though. He got a remote controlled lego technique bulldozer and front end loader. Talk about awesome I'm so jealous. Would be a great time to have just had lower back surgery this morning. Be alot of sitting around the house recovering. Just praying I dont have to miss much work😔

I bought the blue and white crawler crane kit, different functions, pulley lifting etc. I swapped for this red crane, then switched back, then bought the off road truck kit that can be operated with blue tooth and a mobile phone. Lego was made for Covid. My son and grandson have had great times building and operating these kits. Never too old for technic lego.

Building Lego from kits is about as technically demanding as doing a 500 piece jigsaw. Some videos on KZonlines show people who design and build their own creations . Now that is truly impressive, it shows a high degree of creativity and technological know how.

I'm 35 years old and I really like building huge lego technic sets. Once I'm done with testing the different functions I will try to make them better and after testing the functions again I will probably never touch the model again. Building it is the fun part.

This an amazing boys toy, my son got this kit second hand, rebuilt it and it is incredible, so many motorised functions all working from 1 motor. These kits could be so rewarding in these days of self isolation.

Lets not forget that there are MOCs... I have lego crane MK2 and there are plenty of MOCs that you can build from this set... I bet its similar with this one... With my MK2 I already build several other things... I bought also lego servo, sbrick and another motor and I was able to build dump truck controlled completely by my phone... :)

LoL the anxiety triggers. Oh the triggers!! Tip for new LEGO builders....if you have an iPad scan the QR code on the book for a digital book with pinch to zoom functions. Also....organize the pieces into three containers. Small pieces. Medium pieces and then large ones. Helps to not lose any too. Great video.
