NEW iPhone SE - Bend Test - Scratch Test - Burn Test
How durable is the New iPhone SE? Did Apple skimp on materials to make this budget 4 inch device? It seems to be an exact imitation of the iPhone 5. Lets give it the ol' JerryRigEverything durability test.
First we will start with the scratch test, making sure we hit the screen, the aluminum back, and the camera lens. After that we will burn the display and see if the IPS panel can recover from the extreme heat. Then we can try bending it.

The camera glass and home button are actually covered in saphire glass and not "regular" glass. Saphire is the second hardest transparent material known to man, and it's harder than sand, so this makes them basically scratch-proof, which is great. Unfortunately, they are more prone to shattering because of their hardness, so make sure to not drop your iPhone SE on its back.

Came here from the "how to replace the screen video" to learn about the home button and bend test. I keep mine in a life proof, and would be lying if I said I'd never tried to snap it in half. It bends exactly as you've mentioned, but works perfectly still. The battery hasn't heated up any or lost any life. The screen only broke when I Gronk spiked it at the floor.

I'd like to see a DTEK50 durability test. One of the things I've noticed you don't cover in these tests is shatter resistance, as some displays are more prone to shatter (I can throw my z10 against a concrete repeatedly and the screen won't shatter).

Love your durability tests jerry! Keep up the good work! However I was curious about one thing in particular concerning the iPhone se which you seemed to have missed in this test, and that is the part where you test the earpiece grill and tell us what material it's made of. If you could please respond and let me know if the grill is metal or not I would really appreciate your effort! I just got my iPhone se and I don't want to go sticking anything into the earpiece to test this myself.

okay, I gotta say this because it bugs me in all the other smartphone videos out there. I love how this video was really short and how you didn't babble for minutes and minutes before getting to the test but started right away. And your ways of testing are also really nice. I like how you had the different scales for the scratch test and explained a little bit about the burn test, since that is not the most usual test there is for smartphones. Very time efficient and helpful!!!!

Did you try to apply some pressure on the back camera lens to see if it can be easily pushed inside? This happened on my old iPhone 5, when I accidentaly applied a little pressure on camera lens cover with my finger (like the adhesive would give up or something). And I am wondering if iPhone SE is also vulnerable to this (if it has the same design around the camera at all)? If anyone else has/had the similar issue, let me know, thanks.

I just got an iPhone se. I got it for $90 refurbished. Didn’t come in a box tho. Still a really great phone. It doesn’t lag even tho it’s 2021. How does this bend compare to the 6? Big reason for me getting rid of my 6 is the bending... Has bent twice and had to replace the screen once. Luckily it's simple enough to bend back and had Apple replace the screen and they didn't notice the bend, but definitely an inconvenience.

I remember I had that phone (same colour and all) as my first phone and LOVED it I was offered a new one like 3 times but always turned it down. One day I was chasing after my friend and it fell onto the concrete. I was not worried because even tho it did not have a screen protector or protective case on I had it for years and had dropped it several times (One time I even dropped off of sledge hammer at Canada’s wonderland and it d8d not even have a scratch) anyways I picked up my phone to see it had completely shattered I was heart broken. I still have the phone to this day I keep it in a box in my room. I always liked smaller phones but decided that if I was going to get a new phone anyway I might as well get a new one so I ended up getting a rose gold iPhone XS I could have gotten the X, XR or XS Max but I got the XS for the smaller feel to it. Thanks for reading :)

The phone won't pass the bend test. Yes, nothing major happened within four seconds of bending, however this happened to my iPhone 5S and the screen eventually began to separate from the frame, causing a whole flux of issues, including dead pixel lines, areas of no capacitive feedback, and several cases not fitting the bent frame. The bent frame will get ya!
