Is the Tesla CyberTruck Worth it?! - A Truck Owners Thoughts
The Tesla Truck is here. And... its... different. Elons CyberTruck has broken the internet with its unique polarizing design. The Electric Tesla CyberTruck might look futuristic and funky, but its whats under the hood that maters. Figuratively speaking of course. Cuz... under the hood is more storage space. The Telsa Truck will be one of the most capable vehicles on the road when it comes out in 2021, and 2022. (Assuming Tesla can keep to the schedule.) And I am super excited about it. The specs of the new Electric Trucks take vehicles to the next level. far beyond what gas powered vehicles can accomplish.

I really appreciate how you mentioned that the best thing for the environment is to continue using your old vehicle as long as you can before upgrading to a new electric vehicle because it always annoys me when people keep going through new vehicles every 3 years while also talking about how fuel efficient and environmentally friendly they are

I totally forgot about crumple zones until mentioned in this video. It’ll be interesting to learn about the crash test results of the truck bc what if this style of construction results in a car as solid as the really old cars that didn’t absorb impacts?

0:07 it looks SO much better "in the real world" on the streets, reflecting the world around it and all the lights in that foggy brushed steel panelling. Looks so amazingly good. Much better than on a clinically flatly lit stage with no reflected details, honestly. Imagine this thing driving on Manhattan or in Shanghai, reflecting all the buildings and lights. Or on a hot sunny desert day, reflecting the cacti and blue skies in its steel. Or on a muddy road in the jungle, the entire canopy reflected in its body. It will look AMAZING. Why on earth would you want it in black?

Wasn't sold on the Rivian, but when this thing came along it was worth a look. I'm an overlander so would like a touch more mileage but sure that will come along as well. Hydrogen also worth looking into. Now I'm not closed to the idea, it definately has potential. I await more details, now with interest.

Love it. Took a bit to get there but I'm inspired to make this the replacement for my Hilux. Bashing through the bush not worried about scratching the paint. Better utilisation of the bed. Security for the tools with a quick transformation to allow for an oversized payload. Plenty of anchor points. The list goes on and on. Just love the concept version and hoping the real deal comes close.

Honestly, it has possibilities. I would, however, expect that they would maybe change that triangle design to something curved to make it a bit more aerodynamic and also less weird-looking, as right now it looks more like a thinker toy my brother built out of a kit than a 69,000 dollar truck, and also let it have a bit longer truck bed but other than that it actually looks good. Reminds me of the Jetsons actually

The design of this truck isn't that bad. As a whole I actually like it. There are a couple areas I don't like though, like the triangular roof designe. I would have preferred a flat roof then a sloping rear kinda like a trapezium that's been stretched a little.

If the look were purely done for aesthetic purposes, I'd think it's dumb. But it's done for functional purposes, and I think it's brilliant. I love it. I don't want a truck, but I'd gladly take a smaller profile version of this to serve as more of a hatchback. There will be an AWD version and stainless steel won't rust in the harsh NE winter salt.

Very nice live presentation, Zack! I really feel like i would know Musk as my brother, or some tabletennis collegue. I remember planning this some time ago. I think the bicycle market and taxis are the best way of selling electric devices. We need better engineering, though in many cases- and this pigcar more is done for 'showreasons' for the company ... I don't know! I would like to see revolutions not 'messed up metaldesigns' ..... Or? Let's build another 'Silberpfeil from MBenz?' - We need perfect engineering, that's what electricity design is about ....

But in a different perspective, wouldn't you want the glass to break in say an accident? Glass can be hard enough to break underwater but when it is more shatter proof I can't see a person breaking it and making it out alive. Even an accident that involves a fire and the car completely dies I would guess that you are trapped.

I haven't been a fan of electric for numerous reasons. Mostly because they can't do what I want it to do. With this, you're getting a lot closer. I won't buy a new truck. Too expensive. If I bought a truck for $70k, it had better be armored. This truck is getting to the level of what I'd spend money on. However, it need to be able to be solar rechargeable, no sun roof, and in more if a configuration of a suburban. Then, I'm in. I like the three motor set up and the range. Elon, you've got my attention now.

If I was not saving up for college, and had money for it. Damn, it would go straight to the garage. It is weird, it is futuristic, it is something new, all yes. But I love it. As you said in the video, the truck is supposed to be a tool, and I think that this one could deliver on that. That 500 miles range is pretty sweet too. Yeah now only steps to make, get a scholarship, well-paying job and start saving, and maybe in few years, something like this could be mine, a sweet dream for diehard SciFi fan.

Hey Zach, I love your electric truck reviews on the Hummer and Tesla. You seem very knowledgeable about these subjects. Can you do a review on Ford’s electric Transit work vans. My lease is up pretty soon and I’m seriously considering going electric. I drove electric forklifts in warehouses 25 years ago and they were absolute workhorses. You couldn’t beat them for performance, quietness, and ZERO exhaust fumes. The owner of the company wound up converting our entire fleet of forklifts (15 stores) from propane to electric.

40k is pretty appealing for a base model Tesla. I would buy one simply for the fact that everybody will be wanting to look at it and ride in it. As far as the "truck" part of it. It just looks like the Avalanche Chevy made or other similar models from different manufacturers. Glad to see stainless steel is coming back. Very Delorian esk

The glass broke because the window was down. It was down because they hit the door first and made the window probably loose. Watch the full Tesla Cyber truck event and when they tested it before the event. Notice that the window went down ,and when they dropped the metal ball onto the glass they kept tightening it so that it won't break. In conclusion it will only have strength if the window is fully closed.

There’s two issues that crossed my mind when they revealed the truck. First being the weight with that steel “frame” or body or whatever they’re calling it. There’s a reason why cars changed from steel back in the day with muscle cars to the panel sheet metal we use today both for weight and safety as the cars that hit those solid steel cars would be destroyed and potentially really hurt those not in the steel car. Second is the no side view or in fact any real mirrors as relying on a screen could potentially cause huge accidents if the screen were to die out and the driver has no way of seeing his rear and sides
Mawsh'n
3 жыл бұрын
Weight is clearly not a problem for this EV; speed, accel, range, torque, are the proof of that. Safety and crumple zones are going to be a serious question that tesla will have to figure out, especially if they want to sell the vehicle in the EU. Steel "frame" makes sense on a utility vehicle. Get the truck into whatever situation and you won't need to care for the looks of the body :D That being said, obviously safety of everyone comes first. Mirrors are a requirement at the point of production; the vehicle must have the mirrors as it leaves the factory and Elon talked about that before a lot. He would prefer all tesla vehicles to not have mirrors but isn't allowed to do it. He is hoping for the regulations to update to modern specs.

In the video you can see the glass is damaged before they throw the ball. Also there was glass on the ground, meaning they did bust at least one window during the day.

I believe the cybertruck will beat anything the competition have to offer. It's going to make Tesla grow a lot. Therefore, Teslas workers should really consider to start unionizing soon!

If this concept was brought forward by any other manufacturer ( besides Tesla), it would be criticized way more and would have been thought of as an unbaked, raw design. 🙂 As good as the concept is, to me it's very raw

I have a love/hate view of this truck. It’s very Mad Max looking which I love. I love that it has an unpainted stainless steel exoskeleton but I don’t know how practical it is as a truck. I can’t put a camper on it, for one. It feels like if I put stuff in the bed, it would fly out. Maybe because of the slanted frame, it creates that optical illusion for my neurotic ass. Anyway, I would deff take it if someone gifted me it but as far as buying one...mmm, I’ll get an ev Hummer instead.😏

Yeah, especially because out of the past 6 trucks I've owned, over the past 20 odd years. Some soy boy threw a ball bearing at the windows, like, never.

The first vehicle I learned to drive (for permit & legal license) was a Chevy Stick Shift..my father's. I prefer trucks & had many over the first part of my life. For the 2nd part, I would love to have a truck again. My pug dog Dolly & I need protection. At this point in time....TESLA CYBERTRUCK would do it! I grew up in Southern California & lived there 35 years. I worked at Mattel Electronics (Headquarters were in Hawthrone) back in the day. I now live in Southern Texas by the Mecican Border (see my need for protection) !? Dolly & I go to Boca Chica to watch SpaceX do their thing. It is the most interesting & exciting thing I have witnessed in 35 years living down this way!! Now ya know how young I am. Ha ha.....Everyone should have dreams & boy, do I have mine!!!

It is now 2022. I liked the look of the Cyber truck when it first came to the attention of the public. The more I hear about the specs, the more I like it. If I had the money I'd buy one as soon as I could. However with the bunch of ludites that populate Australia's capital it will be some time before electric cars let alone trucks hit the roads in Australia

I know glass brakes but if they were so sure about it and the window still broke. That makes me think what else is not up to par. Because they will tell you everything is fine just like that window was supposed to be.

The glass broke because of that, before the actual test, Elon showed the crowd that the glass is bulletproof and he was sure that the glass would stay in place before he would hit it, but when they went to the cybertruck they hit the door, and that made the glass come down a little bit. So it didnt stayed in place and the glass broke My theory:/
